Tamaki Heritage Experience
Take a journey into the heart of Maori culture with Tamaki Heritage Experiences.

After meeting at the Realm of Tane, Tamaki's city base, visitors will board buses for an entertaining and informative journey to Tamaki Maori Village, 15 minutes' drive south of Rotorua.

Experience a traditional welcome on arrival followed by a chance to explore the village market area, where musicians and craftsmen will showcase their work and share their stories. This is followed by a cultural performance second to none and a delicious hangi (earth oven) dinner.

The experience, known as Journey of Ages, is the first story in The Chronicles of Uitara, a powerful tale of the Maori culture and of New Zealand, told across many generations of a single family. Each story tells of new landscapes, characters, villains and heroes and is a re-enactment of ancient times based on real characters and actual events.
